You will always remember the precious day that you give birth. Make it a great experience! By hiring a doula, you will feel completely cared for and empowered before, during, and after your entire birthing experience. Included is: An interview This is an opportunity to see if our personalities and birth philosophies click. We can meet in your home or a public place. Prenatal meetings My goals for our prenatal contact is to form a bond with you and your partner, empower you, and increase your awareness of your birthing choices, much like a private birthing class would do. At the first meeting, we will discuss your birthing choices and I will help you to create or revise your birth wishes. You will receive paperwork to fill out and the contract to sign. At this time, a deposit should be made. At the second meeting, we will "practice" labor positions, massage, and comfort techniques and I will answer any questions you may have. Unlimited phone contact After our first meeting, you may call me day or night at any time. After your 37th week, I ask that you call me after each prenatal appointment so that we can maintain good contact about your progress. On-call labor support When you think you may be in labor, I will join you, whether home or hospital. During labor, I will help you remain focused and relaxed, and employ comfort measures such as aromatherapy, massage, heat/cold, and movement so that you can concentrate on moving closer to greeting your child. I help you remember your birth plan, and encourage and support your abilities to birth. I help your birth partner by suggesting ways they can help you and work together with him/her as a team. I can help take stress off of your partner by taking turns giving massages, and staying with you during your partner's snacks and restroom breaks. When the baby is born, I remain by your side for afterbirth and repair. I also can remain by your side to give helpful advice during the first breastfeeding experience. Postpartum calls and visits I will call you the following day to see how you are doing and to schedule a postpartum visit. At this visit, I will give you any birth notes which were taken and we will talk about your birth. Fees For everything listed above, my fee is $500, an average rate of a certified and experienced doula in the Midwest. I do consider bartering for some of the payment. I require a deposit of $200 when the contract is signed to reserve your space. You may pay for the remainder in payments, with at least 90% due before your estimated due date. I accept checks and cash, and I can take credit card payments via PayPal. Please do not let my fee stop you from contacting me for service. We may be able to work something out.
